Liverpool is the British capital of crypto investments

Liverpool has established itself as the crypto capital of the United Kingdom, thanks to a survey that studied the online habits of citizens across the country. According to the research conducted by Openreach, 13% of Liverpool residents regularly invest in cryptocurrency and follow the bull and bear market trends, surpassing every other British city in this financial activity.
This data highlights a phenomenon of growing interest in digital assets in a city that seems to have a particularly active and informed audience about the latest developments in the digital financial market. Liverpool thus stands out in the British landscape as a hub of innovation and attention towards the world of cryptocurrencies.
Liverpool leads the United Kingdom in crypto investments
If Liverpool excels in crypto investments, London stands out as the capital of online dating. Here, in fact, 24% of respondents use dating apps at least three times a week, compared to a national average of just 4%. This significant difference highlights how the British capital maintains a dominant role even in the digital social sphere.
Overall, the English spend on average about three and a half hours a day online. However, a 20% of respondents admit to spending more than five hours a day browsing the web. The peak activity times vary, but surprisingly 64% claim to be online between 11:00 PM and 6:00 AM, and more than a fifth (19%) visit platforms like YouTube during these nighttime hours.
Manchester and the popularity of Instagram
In the North, Manchester emerges as the city where Instagram is the preferred platform. 27% of the inhabitants use this app more than any other social or online service. This indicates a strong presence of young users who are attentive to visual trends and immediate communication, very present on Instagram.
Sheffield, the social and streaming city
Sheffield stands out for the massive presence on TikTok, with a 32% of users active on this platform. Additionally, 30% of the inhabitants regularly use music streaming services. It is the city with the highest number of hours spent online daily, where 32% of the sample reports spending over five hours every day connected to the internet.
Leeds and the dominance of Facebook
Different is the choice of users in Leeds, where 43% pays a lot of attention to Facebook, which remains a social network appreciated and used for a long time in that community. This preference shows how some segments of the population continue to maintain stable connections with platforms that emerged years ago.
Impact and reflections on the use of the internet
The survey by Openreach, conducted on the anniversary of the installation of the first broadband in a UK home (year 2000, in Basildon, Essex), also shows the emergence of some concerns among users. Faced with the increase in time spent online, 43% fear wasting precious time browsing, while 37% express concern about the phenomenon of “doom-scrolling,” which is the compulsive scrolling of negative or stressful content.
Furthermore, 33% of respondents express the feeling that reducing their digital presence could make them more relaxed and serene. This data confirms how the use of the internet, although now central in daily life, also leads to a growing need for balance in the relationship with the digital world.
A rapidly moving digital future
The Openreach survey thus reveals a dynamic and varied picture of the relationship between British communities and digital technology. Liverpool clearly emerges as a point of reference for criptovalute, while other cities express different and specific online cultures. In any case, the strong connection with the internet and the different behaviors indicate how digital life continues to transform habits and choices, both in the field of entertainment and finance.
For anyone who wants to delve deeper into the world of cryptocurrency or simply better understand the dynamics of the network, this study represents an important starting point. The challenge for the future will be balancing easy access to digital technologies with a mindful management of time and attention online.
